Each March, as we prepare for the thaw of the Earth, the campus of Cape Cod Community College comes alive with a bold display of color, music, dance, and taste. The Multicultural Festival, which celebrated its fourteenth year this year, brings cultures from all over the world together for a day of fun and wonder. African dancers and drummers, traditional American square dancers, Wampanoag Nation performers, Scottish dancers, bagpipers, Chinese dance. The Incas Wasi, performing the music of the Andes, the young Asian woman playing a zither. The Middle Eastern dance is always a spectacle – the woman pictured above is part of the ensemble – her dance was mesmerizing as she balanced a sword on her head. Hundreds of people flock to campus for this event – if you missed it this year, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for next year’s festivities.

Also, don’t forget, if you’re local – my Day in the Dunes exhibit is on display now at Town Hall in the Selectmen’s Conference room and Hearing Room – both on the second floor of the building. 367 Main Street, Hyannis MA.
